Welcome Pilgrims of Hope
The 2025 Jubilee is centred on the theme “Pilgrims of Hope”. As Pope Francis expressed it:
"We must fan the flame of hope that has been given us, and help everyone to gain new strength and certainty by looking to the future with an open spirit, a trusting heart and far-sighted vision."
The Jubilee began on 24 December 2024, with the Opening of the Holy Door of Saint Peter’s Basilica in Rome and runs to 6 January 2026, the Feast of the Epiphany, with the Closing of the Holy Door.
We are honoured that St Augustine's Church has been designated by our Bishop Gregory Homeming OCD as a Pilgrimage Church for the Jubilee Year 2025.
As a Pilgrimage Church, we welcome all faithful to join us as “Pilgrims of Hope” in prayer, reflection, and celebration during this holy year.
We look forward to sharing this spiritual journey with pilgrims from near and far, offering a place of solace, worship, and renewal.
“The Jubilee Year offers us an opportunity to refocus our lives on Christ, mend divisions, and renew our trust in God’s promises, it is a time to celebrate the joy of our faith and to shine Christ’s hope into the lives of others” Bishop Gregory Homeming, Bishop of the Lismore Diocese

The Jubilee Prayer
Father in heaven,
may the faith you have given us in your son,
Jesus Christ, our brother, and the flame of charity enkindled in our
hearts by the Holy Spirit,
reawaken in us the blessed hope
for the coming of your Kingdom.
May your grace transform us
into tireless cultivators of the seeds of the Gospel.
May those seeds transform from within both humanity and the
whole cosmos in the sure expectation
of a new heaven and a new earth,
when, with the powers of Evil vanquished,
your glory will shine eternally.
May the grace of the Jubilee reawaken in us,
Pilgrims of Hope, a yearning for the treasures of heaven.
May that same grace spread the joy and peace
of our Redeemer throughout the earth.
To you our God, eternally blessed,
be glory and praise for ever.
Amen
Jubilee Pilgrim Mass
We are delighted to introduce the monthly Jubilee Mass, also known as the Pilgrim Mass, dedicated to our parish church, now recognized as a pilgrimage church. This special celebration of spiritual renewal will embrace the diverse cultures within our parish community. This will take place every last Sunday of the month at 5:30 pm
The event will begin with the Rosary, recited in various languages, reflecting our unity in diversity. During the Rosary, the congregation is invited to write their petitions, which will be offered during the Offertory in the Mass and will be placed into the JAR at the altar.
In a beautiful gesture of unity, a family with their children will present the bread and wine, symbolizing that we are all one family in God. (There will be papers and pencils available on the pews. Please fold your written petitions and they will be collected before the offertory.)
During this Jubilee year, our church has become a pilgrimage place, and we have established three significant stations for reflection and prayer:
Station 1: Hope – Mary MacKillop
Station 2: Faith – Our Lady of Perpetual Help
Station 3: Love – The Jar at the Altar
These stations are deeply connected to the theme "Pilgrims of Hope."
Station1:
Hope is embodied by Mary MacKillop, who inspires us to trust in God's providence even in challenging times. Her life reminds us that hope is a beacon guiding us through life's uncertainties, encouraging us to remain steadfast and optimistic.
Station 2:
Faith is represented by Our Lady of Perpetual Help, symbolizing unwavering trust in God's plan. Faith sustains us on our spiritual journey, helping us to remain committed to our beliefs and to find strength in God's promises.
Station 3:
Love is symbolized by The Jar at the Altar, reflecting the transformative power of Christ's love. Love is the foundation of our Christian life, calling us to act with compassion and kindness, and to see Christ in every person we encounter.
The significance of the JAR
In the Gospel account of the wedding at Cana (John 2:1-11) When Mary, the mother of Jesus, discovered they had run out of wine, she informed her son. Jesus responded that his time had not yet come. However, Mary instructed the servants, “Do whatever He tells you.” Jesus then thold them to fill the jars with water, and He transformed the water into wine. Today, we heed the advice of His blessed Mother to do whatever He tells us. In this connection we will write down our burdens and struggles, placing them at the altar in the jar before Jesus, so that He may transform them into blessings.
Offertory
On behalf of our parish community, the family who is bringing the gifts, the bread and wine represent our human work and our efforts to love Him. This is the moment to place our hearts and intentions on the altar, seeking spiritual transformation of our daily lives and struggles into blessings.
